A Brief History About Myself
I grew up in a small town in northern Michigan called Manistee, where I attended a small catholic school from kindergarten until I graduated (I graduated with a class of 17). I was always actively involved in extra-curricular activities during my junior high and high school career. Being involved in these many school activities taught me how to work hard, be responsible, and work as part of a team.
Upon high school graduation, I attended Grand Valley State University for two years. I was majoring in Exercise Science and had plans of becoming a physical therapist after I had sustained a knee injury in high school and went through nine months of physical therapy myself. After experiencing how physical therapy had changed my life for the better, I thought that is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. However, I transferred to Saginaw Valley State University in the fall of 2009 and did some observation hours in the clinical setting. Through hours of observation in different clinics, I was able to learn about a different type of therapy, occupational therapy, and decided that this is what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. I felt like occupational therapy allowed me the opportunity to truly develop relationships with people and help them in all aspects of their life.
Aside from school, I have many personal interests such as spending time with my family and friends, health and fitness, playing sports, particularly basketball and tennis, spending time outdoors, whether I'm taking my dogs for a walk or hanging out at the beach, helping people, and animals. I am definitely an animal lover - my family has two dogs, and two cats, and I have one cat of my own. I'm a pretty easy-going person and enjoy spending time with people who can make me laugh and smile.
